Videos!

14 03 2009

I finally had a few minutes to play with the video camera and the new computer.  I was able to edit a sledding video we took of Evan yesterday.  I would have like to add music, but I got tired last night.  Anyway, emailing video just doesn’t work for the grandmas and grandpas, so I decided I’d try putting them up on the blog… success!  So, enjoy this first video, and look forward to more.  I am planning to edit “Evan’s First Shave” tonight, and that will go up soon. 🙂

March Blizzards

11 03 2009

Well, after an early out yesterday and a late start this morning, our most recent round of snow and wind have subsided, leaving in its wake a mountain at the end of our driveway that I fear will linger long into May… or June.  Seriously, an entire winter’s worth of snow is piled between our driveway and that of our neighbor.  Living on a cul de sac has its perks, but snow removal is NOT one of them!

We really need to figure out a way to block the wind as well.  Perhaps we’ll plant some trees or try a snow fence next year.  The wind whips between our house and the other neighbor, and poor Josh is stuck wading through drifts nearly waist-high.  More than once my dear husband has commented on how glad he is we broke down and bought the snow blower this winter.  It’s been a tough one.

That said, I KNOW spring is coming.  It must.  Soon.  More daylight in the evening has been lovely, but driving to work in the dark again is less than stellar.  Spring break is right around the corner.  I hope Mother Nature gets the memo and brings about a drastic change.

Other than the weather, a bit of family drama has kept me on edge.  Nothing to discuss in this public forum, of course, but what would family be without drama, right?

Anyway, I’m up too late.  Time to sleep.  Hopefully my nasty cold will not hinder my rest tonight as it has for the past few.  Sweet dreams, all. 🙂

Sunny Sunday

8 03 2009

We had a great day.

This morning, we woke up to our birthday boy playing contently in his bed.  We made chocolate chip pancakes shaped like the number two.  We got ready for church, and Evan went to the “wiggler” room instead of the nursery for the first time.  He LOVED it, and he couldn’t stop talking about all the fun he had… and the snack they ate. 🙂

This afternoon, Evan and I made the cupcakes for his party at daycare on Tuesday.  They are baked into ice cream cones, and they turned out pretty stinkin’ cute.  If I ever get my camera set up conveniently, I’ll show you pictures of all these creations…

Good friends came over for a smorgasbord supper of all the leftovers from our partying and company over the past week.  The kids played, the adults visited, it was fantastic.

Now, I have to go help with bedtime.  Enjoy spring… it’s coming!

Time MARCHes On…

6 03 2009

I can’t believe it’s already March.  I also can’t believe that in two days my baby will be two.  It seems like just yesterday I was anxiously waiting to hear when (and HOW) he would come into this world.  Wow.

I got to hold a bitty baby this week as our friend Carrie was in town with her little guy Isaac.  They were at the hospital from Sunday through today.  Isaac had a case of RSV, and I tried to get up to see her and help out whenever I could.  Anyway, holding that little baby made me think a lot about when Evan was that small.  It seems like forever ago, but it happened in the blink of an eye.  That makes very little sense, but I’m sure you other moms out there can relate.

Evan had a fun birthday party with his grandparents and my sister and her family last weekend.  Everyone was in town to attend the musical (it came together really well, by the way), so we decided to have Evan’s party the same weekend.  I was (and still am) exhausted by the end of all of the festivities and performances, but it was a fulfilling weekend. Now, if only I could get caught up at school… perhaps less time online is called for…

On Evan’s actual birthday, he’ll get to go to Sunday School for the first time–he’s totally excited about it!  We’ll also go out for his favorite meal, pizza, after church.  His daycare party is on Tuesday.  That will mean more cake making for me–I’m thinking cupcakes this time around.

Our school board will meet March 16th to make their decisions about cuts for next year.  After that, staff will start shuffling around the district in response to positions being eliminated and buildings being reconfigured.  When the dust settles, I’ll let you all know what I’m up to next year… We’re keeping a positive outlook as we know whatever happens, happens for a reason.

That’s it in a nutshell…

Anyone want to come over and clean my house???

Long time, no post

28 01 2009

It’s been awhile…

This crazy roller coaster ride of a school year has not slowed down a bit.  In fact, musical season and knowledge bowl/math league have Josh and I in a bit of a corkscrew pattern.  Because musical rehearsal runs late each night, Josh has to drive into town to pick up Evan every day. Having just one car seat (that we don’t like to move from car to car) has meant that Josh has to pick up the van at my school.  This would all be rather seamless had Evan not lost our extra key when we were in South Carolina last summer.  As it is, Josh has to track me down, find the key, and then go on his way.  Maybe we need to invest in a car seat for his car?  (It would be cheaper than replacing the “smart” key we lost…)

The up side of Josh coming in every day is that he and Evan have been doing lots of playing at swimming at the YMCA. This makes for a worn out boy who sleeps pretty well–except when he has a monster cold, which he does now.

The musical is coming along.  We lost several rehearsals in our crazy weather week, but the students are working hard, and Cinderella should be a success.  I’m most excited that my parents and my sister and her family are coming to see the show along with Josh’s parents.  We’ll also celebrate Evan’s second birthday the Saturday of show week.

So, while this crazy ride is a long way from coming to a stop, we should have a few thrills and chills for the next few weeks while we endure this hectic pace.  (I’ve not even mentioned the huge budget cuts coming up for my district this spring… that’s another post for another day.)

Until next time,

M

Mourning

My heart breaks for a dear friend who lost her dad in a car accident last night.  We are praying for this family, and our deepest sympathy goes out to them in their time of sorrow.

Delayed

27 12 2008

Because we’re on a LONG break this year, and because the roads were questionable this morning when we wanted to take off, we are staying an extra night up north.  We had a yummy supper with Josh’s mom and dad, and then we played games with their good friends, the Vogts.  It was a nice evening, a bonus day.  We’ll be on the road tomorrow.  A week of doing whatever, whenever awaits, and we couldn’t be more excited.
